Hey you guys, I hope you are doing good:) This weekend my mind went back to the time I worked in a beautiful beauty shop on Fifth Avenue, New York. This was a part- time job I took because I needed to earn extra cash.I had no experience prior to working in the beauty business except for a brief time when I was in college & I worked at Bath Body & Work. From that seasonal position all I remenber is listening non stop to Christmas tunes and  the lotions , soaps delicious scents ect…Now the experience I want to share on this post is my one year position at this beauty shop that should stay anonymous. I remenber how the store had to look perfect in fact for every season or holliday  there was a sheet the manager received with the exact ways the beautiful soaps, cookies, the pajamas had

Today I was listening to my ipod on shuffle mode while working out and “Forever” by P Square came on.For those among you who are familial with PSQ u already know that this is fan’s favorite.Aren’t the twins good in romanticizing us and making us dancing gayly smile plastered on our faces and all…Anywhoo so last January the twins came to Dakar for the first time and were to host a free concert at Place de l’Obelisque. At the time Rida was around 5/6 month I believe.I was torn between staying at home or going to see the twins.A couple days before since i didn’t have anyone to babysit so I settled on watching it on tv. On the day of the concert I got a phone call from my older sister who was visiting , she wanted to give me the night of & suggested I drop of my daughter

One year last year at this time I knew my little pea was ready to come out. I remenber hurting and feeling anxious. I woke up her dad & told him that this was it ,we were about to face the dreaded experience of giving birth, called my parents to let them know that we were on our way to the Clinic.I remenber my sweet next door neighbor saying goodbye to me  a bit anxious and in her eyes that ” i got you sista, hold on ,it might be tough but you’ll get through it”I remenber getting at the clinic ,waiting for our doctor and on TV there was a piece on Nelson Mandela’s birthday. Some people in South Africa thought he may die on that day & they were celebrating his life.My contractions had started & I was bracing myself  trying to calm myself internally. It dawned on me at

On the International fashion scene Leila keeps things going for African models who walk on all the European & American fashion week runways for renown designers such as Azzaro, Dior,Versace,Cavalli,De La Renta,Marchesa et co…Even if “the modelling thing” is not for you,it’s cool to see our beauty represented on the podium. No matter what when people see her in magazines, on the runways she represents Burundian beauty,African beauty. Leila is a law student in France, I don’t know if she has time right now but good to know she’s also all brains. When she was 10 years old because of the civil war, her family moved to Belgium. Motherhood can be so overwhelming that sometimes you need some alone time.Alone time away from the baby that I love so much, away enough to miss her even for an hour.I try to take everyday an hour or two do to things for myself. I try to workout daily by jogging or taking pilates classes (more on that later)or by discovering new places I haven’t been to.It ‘s really important for me to not only feel as a new mummy but also just yaye.It feels good to escape a bit and put myself out there. One of the places I visited is the Gallery Maam Samba.I had visited the St Louis location but I didn’t have time to visit the one by Almadies. So one day I dropped out of miss thang at her grandparents and so I went. Maam Samba works with the women of Ndem and other little villages around. They

If a young woman is beautiful but has no discipline, she will lose her looks as she grows older. If a plain woman is disciplined she will undoubtedly become more beautiful with time” Sophia Loren For startup here is  my beauty routine: Je m’enduis de karate before taking a shower avec une noisette d’huile d’amande . Step 2 :Take a shower with traditional Malian soap or wonderful smelling bar of soap (i loveeeee soaps), wash my face with l’occitane honey soap (cheap and so good) After shower, if my skin still feels a bit  dry un poco d’huile et c’est tout:) I love fruity ,dandyish perfume so selon  my feeling of the day,  I debate over pamplemousse, flowery, citrusy, orangy, ambreish, vanillaish scents:) Usually a touch of Lipgloss or chapstick qui me plait & I’m out & when I want to make a bigger effort, a darker lipstick and I’m off! C’est tout. When I read on

As I’m maturing as a woman, it gets clearer 2 me that life is full of colorful moments some …..happy as pink, some …. merdeux as black . But when we try to keep our optimism, our faith in Allah it can be a succession of great adventures. “Vis chaque jour comme si tu allais vivre 100 ans.Vis comme si tu vivais le dernier jour de ta vie” Ibn Arabi-Sufi Mystic & Philosopher

Hey you guys so I’ve been looking online for videos describing the journey of young people who went to Mecca for pilgrimage.I don’t know if that I’m not lucky but I couldn’t find videos that really touched me until I found this video of this loving African American couple travelling from Kansas City to Mecca & Medina. I spent an entire hour following th their journey, I felt their tears, their joy at being in the Holly city . I’m striving to get to that spiritual level where I can really appreciate such a trip & I hope to one day accomplish this duty with my husband InchAllah! Here’s the video enjoy: A big thank you to that couple as well , thanks for inspiring me and probably so many others:) Yaye
