Naming Ceremony a la Dakar style…end of the end and all its jazz

Baptems in Dakar according to my religion are quite elaborate, the baby is named a week after he came into life..Usually the father is given the first choice of the naming of the baby…In most cases if it’s a boy, the dad choses to give his father’s name sometimes in one of my friend’s cases he gave her father’s name..

Aicha my coworker and her husband gave the name of his first cousin on his dad’s side to their daughter…funny enough her name is Aicha as well.

The ceremony was simple, I shared laughters with my coworkers over some rice…The ladies were dressed in our traditional outfits..bazin is the def’ the queen of fabrics..purple.yellow..blue

Most senegalese women like to put a lot of make up on , they use purple eye liner or dark and vivid lip liner..ect..They chose not 2 be discreet in their make up and find themselves more beautiful w/a lot of make up on…It’s not really cup of my tea I like simplicity..but…

Anywhoo ended up with my friends at Duplex…we had a good time ..funny part was when they played oldie but goodies..Boyz II Men everyone around us started singing along …

However I’ve noticed that for the most part we are all so westernized when they plan African beats a few people dance..the dj didnt even bother playing senegalese rythm..that club is very chichifoufou anywhoo..
